Kata has worked in the sexual assault and domestic violence field for more than 35 years. Her experience spans advocacy, therapy, fundraising, clinical supervision, administration, training, and organizational consulting across community, campus, and national programs serving survivors. In Hawaiʻi, she directed the domestic violence intervention program at Parents And Children Together and later served as Executive Director of the Hawaiʻi Region for Joyful Heart Foundation. She also previously worked in Seattle-based survivor advocacy organizations.
