Find the directory at http://www.vaw.umn.edu/caldir/ Courts, Legal and Collaboration TA: National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges The Family Violence Department (FVD) of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) works to develop and promote improved court and community responses to adult and child victims of domestic violence. To that end, the FVD works with judges, court personnel, attorneys, battered women’s advocates, domestic violence service providers, child welfare workers, law enforcement, and other professionals on a variety of topics, including child protection, child custody, supervised visitation, full faith and credit, and judicial education.The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges is pleased to announce....

This two-day workshop, will offer Safe Havens: Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Grant Program (Supervised Visitation Program) communities the opportunity to engage in strategic thinking and group problem solving around court and legal issues as well as collaboration efforts among community partners intended to enhance safety, promote change, and examine solutions to crucial issues around supervised visitation and safe exchange in cases of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence.For questions regarding the content or logistics of the workshop please contact Michele Robinson at mrobinson@ncjfcj.org or 775-784-6427.Information and registration Cultural Accessibility of Visitation Centers: Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community (IDVAAC) The purpose of IDVAAC’s technical assistance project was to develop information for supervised visitation center (SVC) staff to define and improve upon the current knowledge base for engaging diverse communities in SVC services where intimate partner violence was involved. We have learned about practice approaches recommended by stakeholders and consumers with culturally diverse groups accessing visitation centers, to create a framework for practice with such communities. Fathering After Violence: Family Violence Prevention Fund A national initiative developed by the Family Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF) and its partners to enhance the safety and well-being of women and children by motivating men to renounce their violence and become better fathers (or father figures)and more supportive parenting partners. Safe Transitions Out of Visitation Services: Duluth Family Visitation Center The Duluth Family Visitation Center is developing a safe transition program to give Supervised Visitation Program grantees a replicable component of visitation center service which will allow women and children safer transitions out of supervised visitation/exchange. Development Grantee Technical Assistance: Alliance of Local Service Organizations ALSO is a national technical assistance provider for development grantees and they promote the planning and implementation of comprehensive strategies for the supervised visitation and safe visitation exchange of children by and between parents in situations involving domestic violence, dating violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and/or stalking. |
