Supervised Visitation Grant Program’s Demonstration Initiative
In 2002, the Office on Violence Against Women funded four communities to be a part of the Safe Havens: Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Grant Program - Demonstration Initiative: The South Bay Area,California; City of Chicago, Illinois; State of Michigan; and City of Kent, Washington. Each site was funded for four years to identify, develop, and implement promising practices in the field of supervised visitation and safe exchange for adult and child victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and stalking. The Demonstration Initiative required the four communities to work closely with the Office on Violence Against Women, technical assistance providers, local and national evaluators, as well as each other, to improve safety for adult and child victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and stalking.
